Littleton's Building Expansion Project


During the year of 2002 our eldership encouraged the congregation to place a special emphasis on Building up the Church. Some of that had to do with brick and stones; while more of it had to do with flesh and bones. That is to say that when we talk about a “church building” project around here, we are talking more about people than we are the physical structure at 6495 S. Colorado Blvd. The church was called upon to spend a period of time in prayer and fasting. Out of that time came an awareness to improve the building and grounds with which we have been blessed.

After months of prayer, thought and planning it has been concluded that we should embark on a two-phase approach to enlarging our facilities.

Phase I is intended to provide the tools to facilitate congregational growth. Accordingly, it provides for additional classroom and support space. For our youngest members, nursery and Bible Hour space will be provided along the east edge of our existing auditorium. Also, space for the Youth is planned on the second floor of the east side. Along the southern edge of our existing auditorium, two floors of elementary classroom space will be added.

Phase II is the construction of a new auditorium that will be added to the north of our existing structure. New adult classrooms, administrative space, and a new kitchen area are planned on the first floor along the western edge of the existing structure. The second floor will provide more adult class rooms. In addition, this second phase also provides the site and parking capabilities to accommodate the complete site build out. The existing auditorium will be converted to a family life center.

We have embedded ideas in our expansion plans on how our new church facility can be community friendly. Several areas in our new building will be accessible from the exterior, with limited access to those specific areas for special events. A gymnasium will be available for both church and neighborhood recreational events. We also hope to partner with schools and local businesses to accommodate special community events.

This is an ambitious plan and one that will only succeed with God’s help. It is important that each of us remains prayerful over the coming weeks and months about how God can best use the talents He has provided to this church family.
